Hands On Technology Transfer, Inc., Chelmsford, MA  - Hands On Technology Transfer (www.TrainingHott.com) offers programmer training classes nationwide. Built 11 websites for them and developed tools in Visual Basic to manage all of their web content. Data was kept in SQL Server 2000 and web pages were built with ASP / JavaScript. Developed their entire web marketing and content management strategies. Developed a VB tool that would generate thousands of doorway pages to safely expose content to the search engines. Website hits averaged 110,000/month before my campaign. Within 7 months, hits rose to 5 million/month. Within 12 months, hits rose to 10 million/month. This lead to a significant increase in business for the company. Developed contact management and course scheduling software in VB & SQL Server 2000. Became a manager in the consulting division, overseeing web development and web marketing consulting projects. Tasks included business development, project management and development with ASP, Windows 2000 Server, Interdev, SourceSafe, SQL Server 2000 & Access. Taught the ASP class for the training division.

MeansBusiness.com, Woodstock, VT - After concluding the sale of my software company, Sarbrook, Inc., I became an angel investor in Internet start-up MeansBusiness.com and served as a senior software engineer. www.MeansBusiness.com  sells business book extracts on the Internet. Designed and developed Internet database applications in ASP, JavaScript, DHTML and SQL Server 7. Also utilized IIS, Interdev and Visual SourceSafe. Developed the MeansBusiness content management tool, which consisted of 120 ASP pages that interact with a SQL Server 7 database via ADO. Was the sole developer on this project and performed all aspects of the software product life cycle from inception to delivery of product. Tasks included: user needs assessment, user interface design, graphic artwork, ASP development, JavaScript/DHTML development & cross browser issues, database design, SQL Server 7 stored procedures using T-SQL, IIS setup, SourceSafe setup, conversion of legacy system data, VB maintenance utilities, testing, user support & ongoing code maintenance.

Other primary function was to develop a comprehensive Search Engine Optimization (SEO) strategy. Designed 10 independent thematic websites.  Developed thousands of interconnecting doorway pages to safely expose content to the search engines. Developed English language parsing and key phrase analysis algorithms for this task. Results were dramatic, achieving number one rankings for many search terms which ultimately quadrupled traffic to the website. SOFTWARE CONTRACTOR - VB   Mar 1997 - Oct 1999
Mack Trucks, Inc., Allentown, PA - Developed portions of MACKnet 98 with VB 5. MACKnet allows dealers around the world to process warranty claims, order parts and download engine data via dial-up connection to a mainframe. Made extensive use of SQL and Access tables. Utilized several third party controls such as Sheridan Data Widgets. Duties included Visual Basic 5 programming, database design, UI design, creating Active-X objects, and developing InstallShield installations. Started rewriting system in Java & Java Server Pages. 

VICE-PRESIDENT / CO-FOUNDER / SENIOR ARCHITECT - VB / C Jan 1991 - Feb 1997
The Sarbrook Co., Inc., Dallas, TX - Became a partner in The Sarbrook Co., Inc. and took over product development. Developed a database driven Document Control system to manage manufacturing specs for Fortune 500 companies. Personally wrote 132,000 lines of Borland C code. Later rewrote the entire system in Visual C & Visual Basic 3.0. Database work was done in Oracle, Sybase and Paradox . Used several third party controls for CAD, imaging and OLE. Did software installations, web page design, client/server development, SQL, MAPI and VB optimization. Was involved in every aspect of the business including: strategic planning, sales and marketing, managed a team of 4 programmers, wrote VB/C code, developed design specs and did quotes for custom programming. The system sold for $22,000-$250,000. EDS & Cummins Cash and Information Service, Dallas, TX - Developed a truck permit data entry system. Project was done in Turbo C & MS-DOS. Code development included RS232 communications, Paradox database design, and user interface design.

Motorola Corporation, Austin, TX - Developed a prototype graphical user interface in Turbo C and did Adept robot programming for a robot work cell that assembled the Motorola 68040 chip. This was a project done through Cybex.

Texas Instruments, Process Automation Center Dallas, TX - Developed a text based user interface in Turbo Pascal for the lead inspect product line. Did motion control and RS232 communication to synchronize events of 3 independent CPUs. 

SOFTWARE CONTRACTOR - C  Mar 1989 - Feb 1990
Texas Instruments, Process Automation Center Dallas, TX - Developed a robot work cell that assembles EPROM chips. Duties included graphical user interface development in Turbo C, RS232 communications, motion control, ladder logic, graphics, memory management and process synchronization of 3 PCs,  2 PLCs and a robot controller. Did some minimal PLC programming on Omron PLCs.  Spent a month in Singapore installing system in the clean room at the TI plant.

IBM Corporation, Austin, TX -Worked on the development of the OS/2 operating system. Developed code in PLS286 and 80286 assembler for portions of the communication manager. Also worked in a VM/CMS environment.

Brownell-Bitner Management Consultants, Melbourne, FL -Converted construction project management software written in FORTRAN from a Data Automation computer to an IBM PC. Wrote software tools in Pascal and BASIC to analyze old, undocumented FORTRAN programs.

US ARMY, Combat Developments, Ft. Harrison, IN. - Wrote numerous military applications in COBOL and BASIC. Worked in VAX and VM/CMS environments. Had an opportunity to work on programming the prototype "Data Key".  It was a set of dog-tags with an EPROM chip in it that was being studied as a method of storing a soldier's medical & pay information.

MILITARY: Served in the US Army from June 1980 to June 1984 as a 74F Programmer/Analyst. Honorably discharged with the rank of Specialist-5. Received two Army Commendation Medals, one good conduct medal and held a secret clearance for four years (Jun 80 - Jun 84).
